YMCA Black Country Group will be holding the first YMCA Fun Run in Sandwell Valley on Saturday 27th October.

Working in partnership with Sandwell Leisure Trust, the YMCA has organised the event with the view of attracting people of all ages and abilities from the local community to get active; it will also raise money for the work of the YMCA with young homeless people, specifically to provide money to enable the young people to buy essential items for their home when they move out of the YMCA and are ready to take the step into their own accommodation.

The YMCA Fun Run will take place in Sandwell Valley park on Saturday 27th October and will start at 10.30am. There will be two routes for participants to choose from in Sandwell Valley; a 5 Kilometre route and a 2 Kilometre route which has been designed to suit the needs of disabled and older people, making sure everyone can take part.

Luke Tyler, YMCA Community Games Co-ordinator  said “I’m really excited about the YMCA Fun Run, it will not only raise funds for the vital work that we do across the Black Country, but we’re hoping people are still buzzing from the London 2012 games and want to get involved to carry on the Olympic and Paralympic Games’ legacy.”

Registration will cost £5 for adults and £2 for children under 16, to register you can collect a form from the YMCA Reception in Carters Green.

The YMCA Fun Run is one of a number of event the YMCA has organised as part of the Community Games, inspired by the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games encouraging communities to take part in sporting and cultural activities.
