On Friday 29th September, YMCA Black Country Group hosted a memorable evening to honour our dedicated hosts who have made a significant impact on their community. The Host Appreciation Awards Night was a heart-warming celebration of the individuals who have gone above and beyond to provide a warm and welcoming environment for vulnerable teenagers across the Black Country, who come to YMCA to access our Open Door scheme.

The awards night aimed to recognise and thank the hosts who open their doors and hearts to YMCA participants, providing them with a safe and supportive space to thrive. The awards included recognition of Long Service, Outstanding Contributions and a special award for one Host family who have supported over 100 young people during their time with the project!

Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from young people whose lives had been positively impacted by these gracious hosts. These heartfelt testimonials were evidence of the difference a welcoming host can make in the lives of young people in need.

In addition to the awards, there were musical performances and heartfelt speeches from YMCA staff and volunteers, underscoring the importance of community support and collaboration. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and gratitude, creating a sense of unity among all attendees.

The Host Appreciation Awards Night not only celebrated the incredible hosts who selflessly give their time and resources but also highlighted the achievements of some of the young people over the past year.
