Today’s devotion comes from Steve Lee, CFO, as he explores what our values of TRUST means to him. If you’d like to respond to Steve directly regarding his challenge at the end of his devotion, please email steve.lee@ymcabc.org.uk.
There is a story in the Bible of a woman who had been ill and suffered for many years. She had spent all her money on doctors and, despite everything she tried, had just got worse. She had heard about Jesus and the miracles He had performed, so one day she took a bold risk and decided, “If I can just touch His cloak, I will be healed.”
And guess what? As she stepped out in hope and reached out to touch His cloak, she felt that something had changed — she was healed.
Jesus noticed. Even in the middle of a huge crowd, He paused and asked who had touched Him. The disciples were puzzled — there were so many people around Him, all jostling and bumping into Him.
But this moment mattered.
Although the woman was trembling, she bravely stepped forward and admitted what she had done. Jesus responded not with frustration, but with kindness and affirmation:
“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Whatever you believe, there’s something powerful in this story about courage, reaching out in hope, and being seen.
Do you need a breakthrough today?
Have you tried lots of different approaches, or invested time and energy into something that just isn’t working?
Perhaps today is an invitation to pause, to reach out — whether that’s to God through prayer, reflection, or simply taking a step of trust — and asking for help.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. Sometimes it starts with a small, honest step.
Go on… take that step today. And if you do, I’d genuinely love to hear how you get on.
