Volunteer

Volunteering with YMCA is a great way to help us support our work and our mission to help people develop in mind, body and spirit.

Volunteering allows you to learn new skills, build new friendships and contribute to your local community. It may also enhance your CV and job prospects for the future. There are plenty of roles to get involved in and opportunities to embrace.

Our projects are located in areas right across the Black Country, including Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Rugeley. As a volunteer of YMCA Black Country Group, you could get involved in a range of different activities including:

  • Youth Work
  • Supported Housing
  • Chaplaincy
  • Mentoring
  • Fundraising
  • Becoming a trustee

How you can get involved in YMCA's Christian Mission work

YMCA Chaplaincy Services are an important part of our Christian Mission work.

The YMCA Chaplaincy Team are all practising Christians who offer support, advice and the chance to explore emotional and spiritual issues to everyone – regardless of their background or beliefs.

Our Chaplains can often be seen wandering around our YMCA sites in their yellow hoodies and are always happy to talk with you informally. Feel free to stop them and ask for a chat, or contact us to book an appointment.

If you think you have what it take, complete a volunteer application at the top of this page.

YMCA Black Country Group are committed to partnering with local churches to extend God’s Kingdom across the Black Country and South Staffs.

Our vision is to train and support volunteer chaplains from local congregations to serve in YMCA nurseries and housing programs close to their location, bringing pastoral care to the young people in our community.

As the world’s largest youth organisation with deep Christian roots, our mission aligns with the church’s vision to transform lives through Christ. Together, we can explore new ways to collaborate, building meaningful relationships and shaping a brighter future for youth across the Black Country, grounded in shared values and a heart for God’s work.

Get in touch for a coffee and let’s explore how we can work together.

Corporate Volunteering

We have a range of meaningful opportunities that enable our corporate volunteers to develop their skills and understand how they can make a contribution to supporting the local communities in which they live and work.

These include painting, gardening and decorating our nurseries or housing sites or more practical skills to support our residents and young people such as skills workshops.

If you would like to find out more or have any more ideas about how you would like this to work then please do get in touch.
