YMCA Black Country Group and Living Springs Announce Merger to Expand Housing Support for Families

YMCA Black Country Group and Living Springs Announce Merger to Expand Housing Support for Families

YMCA Black Country Group is delighted to announce its merger with Living Springs in Stourton, a move that will significantly enhance housing provision for vulnerable families and single parents with children. The merger will enable YMCA to extend its housing support in the Black Country and South Staffordshire, ensuring that families have access to safe, stable accommodation within a familiar and supportive environment.

Living Springs, a Christian Charity supporting families for more than 30 years, will continue their vision providing a safe place where families experience love and community to enable healing and growth for a better future, as part of YMCA. Families currently living at Living Springs will remain in their homes and will benefit from being part of YMCA’s wider network, with access to additional services and resources that support personal development, well-being, and long-term stability.

By integrating Living Springs into YMCA’s established network of housing services, residents already supported by YMCA who are expecting a baby will now have the option to remain in a YMCA setting. This will provide continuity of care, allowing them to stay within a system they trust and a team they know, reducing the stress and disruption that often accompanies significant life changes.

A resident described her time at Living Springs, “On the day I arrived and saw the sign ‘shalom’ on my door I cried as it really was shalom, a place of peace for me. Now leaving I can say again that the 7 weeks here have been ‘shalom’. We have loved it here – the safe place to live and for the children to play, the support and friendships, and all we needed in the flat. Thank you!”

Sally Cowan, Chief Officer for Places at YMCA Black Country Group, commented:
“This merger strengthens our ability to provide safe and supportive housing for families who need it most. By welcoming Living Springs into YMCA, we are creating more opportunities for families to thrive within a secure and nurturing environment, ensuring they receive the stability and support they deserve.”

Anna Burden, CEO of Living Springs, who will be joining YMCA as part of the transition, added:
“Living Springs is a unique environment for children and parents, with support to experience well-being and positive activities as a demonstration of the love of God. By merging with YMCA we can continue to provide this and also enhance our support. This partnership ensures our residents will benefit from YMCA’s extensive expertise and resources while maintaining the compassionate care that has always been at the heart of Living Springs.”

The merger reaffirms YMCA Black Country Group’s commitment to strengthening communities by providing high-quality, holistic support for individuals and families in need. Together, YMCA and Living Springs will continue their shared mission to create a brighter future for families across the region.
