Hope Not Hoping

Hope Not Hoping

This week’s devotional comes from Steve Bavington, CEO,as he shares his thoughts about what our value HOPE means to him.

There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
Proverbs 23:18

Our value of HOPE speaks to me about giving people a hope of a positive future. A hope that whatever trials they and we are enduring will end, and that good can come. It’s not a wishful ‘hoping for the best’, but more positive than that.

Our work in Housing for example gives people Hope that they are on a track to independence and flourishing – Hope that shows our residents a brighter future than where they are now.

This Hope is reflected in my faith. That Jesus – though I can’t see him – is steadily working in my present to bring about more blessing in my future, for me and for everyone around me. This means that in the dark moments of my life, I never despair because I know deep down that God’s love will eventually win out.

Point to ponder:
Have a think about the way you help people to hope – the last time you helped someone envisage a better future for themselves – in your work and personal life. Today, could you say or do something for others to give them hope for the future?
