We’re delighted to share some fantastic news from our Carters Green Day Nursery in West Bromwich, which has been awarded the Sandwell Wellbeing Charter Mark.
This is a really special achievement and recognises the care, time and dedication the team has put into creating a warm, supportive environment where children, families and staff can all feel happy, safe and valued.
Over the past two years, Nursery Manager Claire Simcox and the team have worked incredibly hard to make wellbeing a central part of everyday life in the nursery. From building strong relationships with children and families to creating a nurturing space where everyone feels supported, this award is a reflection of that commitment.
Claire shared: “I’m incredibly proud of everything our team has achieved. This has been a real journey, and everyone has played a part. We care deeply about creating a space where children, families and staff feel supported and happy, and it’s amazing to see that recognised.”

The Charter Mark, developed with Sandwell Public Health, is widely recognised as a sign of good practice in supporting emotional wellbeing. It has already been adopted by many schools, and now Early Years settings like YMCA Carters Green Nursery are leading the way in ensuring young children get the very best start.
The work behind this award links closely to YMCA’s bespoke nursery curriculum, which focuses on helping children grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. It also supports our SHAPE strategy, placing health and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do.
This isn’t the end of the journey either. The nursery will be reassessed every three years, with Claire taking on the role of Wellbeing Champion to make sure these high standards continue to grow and develop. For parents and partners, this award is a great reassurance that wellbeing is truly at the heart of the nursery, helping every child feel confident, supported and ready to thrive.
A huge congratulations to Claire and the whole team at Carters Green. This is a brilliant achievement and something everyone should feel really proud of.
