WHY OUR VALUES MATTER

WHY OUR VALUES MATTER

At YMCA, our work is built on more than programmes and projects – it’s built on values. Trust, Inspire, Compassion, and Hope aren’t just words on a wall; they shape how we treat each other, how we serve people, and how we make decisions every day.

This year, we want to take time to reflect on these values together. Why do they matter? Where do we see them in action? And how can we live them out more fully in our roles?

Our values have deep roots. For those of us who follow Jesus, they reflect His character and teaching. But even if faith isn’t your thing, these values are universal – they make our workplace stronger and our communities healthier.

Each week, one of our Executive Team or Chief Officers will share a short thought on one value and a challenge for us all to consider.

We hope these reflections will encourage you, spark conversation, and remind you that what you do matters. Every interaction, every act of kindness, every decision—big or small – can and does make a difference.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13

Point to ponder:
As we start this journey, take a moment to think: Which of these values do you see most in your work? Which one do you want to grow in this year?
