Challenge

Sleep Easy

Sleep Easy is a fundraising challenge event asking you to spend one night sleeping rough, all to raise vital funds to help tackle the root causes of youth homelessness.

You will receive two cardboard boxes to create your shelter for the night and although this isn’t a true reflection of how homeless people live, we hope to give an insight into how it feels to not have a safe place to call home.

Last year alone our emergency Nightstop service has provided more than 1500 beds, and has had to turn young people away due to the increase in referrals.

Homelessness isn't going away overnight, but with your help we can reduce the statistics

0

0

Where does the money go?

100% of all money raised through Sleep Easy goes towards helping our vulnerable young people move forward positively in their lives.

Like Poppy, who needed an extra hand when moving on from YMCA, into their own independent housing.

“Sleep Easy is an ironic name for the event… I barely slept at all but thoroughly enjoyed it!

Despite knowing I’m safe and looked after by the YMCA staff, when it’s dark and quiet at 4am, you really get a sense of how vulnerable you are with just a box and a blanket for protection. I’m glad to have taken part, YMCA do amazing work and I’m pleased to have played a small part in raising money for their work to continue.”

FAQs

Depending on how authentic an experience you want to have, here are a few items you can bring to make your night a little more comfortable

  • Layers of clothing (hoodies and beanies will be available to purchase on the night)
  • Sleeping bag / Duvet
  • Pillow
  • Hot water bottle
  • Hand warmers
  • Gloves / extra socks

To get the full experience, we recommend you spend the whole night with us and leave at 7am. However, if it gets too much for you or you need to leave, just let our team know and we can help you out.

We’re huge dog lovers at YMCA, but unfortunately dogs are not allowed to stay overnight.

All ages are welcome, providing you take responsibility for any children you bring along with you. Although the car park is closed off and we have security onsite all night, we can’t guarantee someone will be watching your children.
