Volunteer Drivers/Befrienders – YMCA Open Door Project As and when required | To work from home on a call out basis
We are looking for volunteer drivers/ Befrienders to support young people who are in Emergency Night stop accommodation. This may involve transporting them to or from their Night stop Placement or supporting them during the day time or while they are waiting to go to their Night stop placement.
In the case of volunteer drivers you will be ensuring that the young person is transported safely and offering appropriate support. You will have your own car and appropriate business insurance to transport young people.
For Volunteer Befrienders you will be offering support as agreed with the Night Stop Officer.
For both Roles you must be able to relate well to young people with good interpersonal skills. You will also have a basic understanding of the issues people face, and an ability to relate to people on a one to one, non-judgmental basis. Additionally, you will have a desire to work with disadvantaged people and a willingness to participate in training and be involved in consultation regarding the role.
The successful applicant must be able to respect the Christian Ethos of the YMCA BCG and uphold its values. A standard DBS will be required before taking up the role.
