LSD115 – Family Employment Support Mentor

20 hours per week | £21,210 pro-rata (£11,312 per annum) | Fixed Term until Sept, 2022 | Location:  Temple Street, Wolverhampton and across other locations within the Midlands (Dudley & Wolverhampton or Walsall & Sandwell.)

 We are looking to appoint a dynamic individual to join our Learning and Skills Development team to deliver the Family Matters project, which provides specific interventions to families who are furthest away from the employment and training arena. The target group will include lone parents, long term unemployed and those experiencing social exclusion.

The role will include but won’t be limited to;

·         Supporting all members of the families to enable them to realise their potential and gain new skills to support their route to training, volunteering or work.

·         Be the central point of contact for families who want to make positive changes within their family unit, but require additional support and guidance to overcome their barriers to employment, training or positive progression.

·         Delivering practical interventions including, confidence building programmes, parenting skills, money/debt management and employability skills workshops and 1:2:1 support.

·         Facilitating ‘teams around the family’, which may include community, voluntary and statutory services.

 

The ideal candidates will have an IAG Qualification level 3 or equivalent and experience of working with families with multiple problems and providing targeted-interventions relating to crime, anti-social behaviour, mental health problems, domestic abuse and unemployment. They will have Experience of working within a multi – disciplinary, multi-agency environment, and will have worked with adults, young people and children with complex needs. Candidates will be required to have a proven track record and reporting on outputs, outcomes and service evaluations, and have the skills to report and write and plan strategically. They will have knowledge of the complex needs and barriers for families from disadvantaged backgrounds.
