YMCA Black Country Group is a group of YMCA Charitable companies & associated trading subsidiaries operating in the Black Country and South Staffordshire area.

We are looking to appoint a motivated and committed individual to join our Housing Team in Walsall.

The post holder will undertake general maintenance and caretaking duties across sites, ensuring that YMCA buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard according to agreed Health and Safety regulations, security requirements and maintenance schedules.

An excellent knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations is required.

Due to the nature of the post some evenings and weekend work may be necessary.

HSA02 – Housing Services Manager

We are looking to appoint a Housing Services Manager to be operationally responsible for all aspects of the housing service and to take a proactive approach to resolving issues. To ensure the provision of high quality day to day housing management and support functions of the YMCA’s housing stock in Sandwell across multiple sites. This includes, but not exclusively, the letting, management, maintenance, administration, rent collection and provision of housing services including support on all Sandwell YMCA housing sites.

The ideal candidate will have experience of property management particularly lettings and rent collection. They must be knowledgeable in tenancy conditions and seeking possession and understand the regulatory regimes and statutory requirements of a housing provider.

They must be experienced in working with vulnerable young people and able to foster effective relationships with a range of diverse agencies and professional. They will be able to work on their own initiative.

Volunteer Drivers and Befrienders Required

Volunteer Drivers/Befrienders – YMCA Open Door Project As and when required | To work from home on a call out basis

We are looking for volunteer drivers/ Befrienders to support young people who are in Emergency Night stop accommodation. This may involve transporting them to or from their Night stop Placement or supporting them during the day time or while they are waiting to go to their Night stop placement.


In the case of volunteer drivers you will be ensuring that the young person is transported safely and offering appropriate support. You will have your own car and appropriate business insurance to transport young people.


For Volunteer Befrienders you will be offering support as agreed with the Night Stop Officer.


For both Roles you must be able to relate well to young people with good interpersonal skills. You will also have a basic understanding of the issues people face, and an ability to relate to people on a one to one, non-judgmental basis. Additionally, you will have a desire to work with disadvantaged people and a willingness to participate in training and be involved in consultation regarding the role.


The successful applicant must be able to respect the Christian Ethos of the YMCA BCG and uphold its values. A standard DBS will be required before taking up the role.
